I use a Fanatec GT DD Pro (5 Nm), but I’d like to buy an 8 Nm boost kit in the future. However, even at 5 Nm my desk shakes and things fall off it. What cockpit should I choose for this? I was also thinking about building an aluminum profile frame from bought parts, but I have no idea how to go about it or where to buy parts. I’d like to keep it within $400.

Realistically, the smartest move is to check Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist first, since many people sell complete aluminum profile rigs or mid-tier cockpits with seats for $250 to $400 when they upgrade, which would give you a direct drive ready solution now and leave you perfectly set up for the 8 Nm boost kit later without worrying about flex or your desk vibrating itself apart.
