What is the best choice?

Hello! I love your videos and its what got me into getting into Sim racing! I have a question for you as you have a lot of experience with different products. I recently got an open box thrustmaster t818 ferrari sf1000 for $400 bucks and its brand new. If I can sell it for nearly 900-1000 dollars would it be better to stick with this or go with a more moderate Moza, Simagic set up with pedals? was planning on spending $1000-1500 for the whole thing but dont know if I should keep what I have or sell like I said. Wanting to build something that will last some time.

Depends. Are you comfortable with the closed Thrustmaster ecosystem? Or do you want a more vast option of pedals, shifters, handbrakes, wheel rims, etc? With Moza, you can use wheels and pedals from other brands, as it’s an open ecosystem. It all comes down to how much upgradability you want with your setup

I would love to have an open ecosystem but didnt know if what I bought was even worth it in the first place. I have seen only a few reviews so didn't know if what I bought was a good deal or if it was only expensive because of the Ferrari branding. If thrustmaster is a closed eco system does that mean I would have to use their pedals too? (Sorry I am new lol)

Yes, closed ecosystem means you are only limited to their products. I think pedals and shifters are exempt from this, but actual wheel rims that connect to the base, you have to use a Thrustmaster rim. If you want the open ecosystem, then sell the Thrustmaster and get one of the bundles you were looking at 👍

That’s an insane find for $400, and you’re asking the right question because while the T818 with the SF1000 is a very good wheel and base, it isn’t automatically the best overall setup for a $1,000–$1,500 budget. If you can realistically sell that combo for $900–$1,000, it often makes sense to do so and reinvest into a more balanced system, because pedals, especially a proper load cell set, will make a bigger difference to consistency and long-term enjoyment than the wheelbase itself. Selling would let you build something around a Moza R9 or R12 or a Simagic Alpha Mini with strong load cell pedals and solid mounting, which is a setup that will age better and scale more easily as you improve.

Keeping the T818 makes sense if you genuinely love the SF1000 wheel, mainly drive F1-style cars, don’t want to deal with resale, and can still afford good pedals within your remaining budget. My practical take is this: if you can move it near that resale price without hassle, I’d sell it and prioritize a full ecosystem with great pedals, but if resale is uncertain or you’re attached to the SF1000 experience, keep it and put the rest of your money into load cell pedals and a rigid mount, because that’s what will make the setup last.

Thank you!  And if I decided to keep it or can't sell it. Are the thrustmaster lcm pedals good? I found another open box deal for $135 and could just could stick with all thrustmaster for now and upgrade a few years down the road

I hear that they are good, but limited adjustability-wise and I've heard of the springs snapping in them quite often. Thrustmaster confirmed that they will release a load cell brake pedal for the Raceline pedals that come with the T598 bundle. That might be worth waiting for
