Fanatec ClubSport DD+ 15Nm WheelBase for PlayStation and PCvsThrustmaster T598 Direct Axial Drive Servo Base (Playstation / PC)

The Bottom Line

The Fanatec ClubSport DD+ 15Nm WheelBase for PlayStation and PC and the Thrustmaster T598 Direct Axial Drive Servo Base (Playstation / PC) represent two completely different tiers of direct drive performance. While Fanatec targets high-end enthusiasts with raw power and premium construction, Thrustmaster aims for budget-conscious drivers looking for an affordable entry point.

Watch out

Both bases suffer from notable early-adoption bugs. The Thrustmaster T598 is prone to mid-race disconnections due to a fragile USB-C port and can suffer from force feedback fade as the passively cooled base runs very hot. Meanwhile, the Fanatec ClubSport DD+ has documented firmware issues causing random disconnections and occasional coil whine from early batches.

Note

The Thrustmaster T598 comes at a much lower starting price of $399.99, but the bundled Sportcar rim and Raceline LTE pedals suffer from cheap, flex-prone plastic construction. Upgrading within each brand's official ecosystem is highly recommended to get the most out of these bases.
