Thrustmaster has revealed the new SimTask Truck-40 Add-On Kit, expanding its growing lineup of hardware designed specifically for truck and heavy-vehicle simulation. Shown at Gamescom 2026, the new package combines a massive 40 cm steering wheel with an adjustable metal mounting system designed to create a much more realistic truck driving position.
This is a pretty different product from the racing wheels Thrustmaster is normally known for, but it makes a lot of sense. Truck simulation has grown into a surprisingly serious hardware category, and the Truck-40 gives existing Thrustmaster owners a way to dramatically change their setup without purchasing a completely separate wheel base.

The most obvious feature is the size. The SimTask Truck-40 measures 40 cm in diameter, making it considerably larger than the 28 to 32 cm wheels commonly used for sim racing. That brings the proportions much closer to what you would actually find inside a truck or other large vehicle.
The wheel also includes 22 action buttons, giving players plenty of controls for the huge number of functions found in games such as Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. The design includes a large center section and generally looks much closer to a proper truck wheel than a racing rim adapted for trucking.
That larger diameter should also change how the force feedback feels. Putting a much larger rim on the same wheel base gives you more leverage, so the resulting forces will naturally feel lighter than they would through a smaller racing wheel. For truck simulation, though, that may actually suit the slower and heavier steering feel these vehicles are trying to recreate.
The other important part of the Truck-40 is the included adjustable metal support. Traditional sim racing wheel bases are normally mounted with the steering shaft pointing almost directly toward the driver, which works for a race car but looks and feels pretty strange when you are trying to recreate the seating position of a truck.
Thrustmaster’s new mounting system allows the wheel to sit in a much flatter position. There are four height settings and up to 30 degrees of tilt adjustment, giving users much more control over where the wheel sits relative to the seat.
This follows the same basic philosophy as Thrustmaster’s existing SimTask Steering Kit, which was already designed to reposition compatible wheel bases for trucking and farming simulation. The Truck-40 takes that idea further by pairing the mounting solution with a steering wheel actually designed for heavy vehicles.
Thrustmaster says the Truck-40 is designed to work throughout its wheel base ecosystem on PC and consoles. The steering wheel supports the company’s detachable wheel systems, including both its older and newer quick-release designs.
There are some separate compatibility considerations for the mounting hardware. The adjustable support is reportedly compatible with most Thrustmaster bases, although models including the T128, T248, T248R, and T98 are excluded from the mounting system.
For owners of compatible direct drive hardware such as the T818 and newer Thrustmaster bases, the Truck-40 could be especially interesting. You can keep the same wheel base and swap between a conventional racing setup and a much more purpose-built trucking configuration.
The Truck-40 also continues Thrustmaster’s push into simulation outside traditional motorsport. The existing SimTask lineup already includes the Steering Kit and FarmStick, with products aimed at trucking, farming, construction, and heavy-equipment games.
That means someone building a dedicated Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator rig could combine the Truck-40 with other SimTask accessories rather than trying to adapt normal racing equipment. It is a fairly niche market, but clearly one that hardware manufacturers are starting to take much more seriously.
The Thrustmaster SimTask Truck-40 Add-On Kit is scheduled for release in October 2026. An exact launch date has not been announced yet, and Thrustmaster has also not confirmed the final retail price.
Pricing will probably be the biggest remaining question. The package includes both the 40 cm wheel and the specialized metal mounting system, so how aggressively Thrustmaster prices the complete kit could determine how appealing it is compared with other dedicated truck wheels already on the market.
The SimTask Truck-40 looks like a pretty logical expansion of the Thrustmaster ecosystem. A 40 cm wheel, 22 controls, broad wheel base compatibility, and a mounting system that can actually recreate a truck-style steering position should make a noticeable difference compared with simply using a normal sim racing wheel.
It is definitely a specialized product, but that is also what makes it interesting. With trucking simulation continuing to grow and more companies developing dedicated hardware for it, the Truck-40 gives Thrustmaster users a much more serious option without requiring them to abandon the hardware they already own.
We still need the final price before knowing how competitive the complete package will be, but with availability confirmed for October 2026, we should not have to wait too much longer.
