NEW mod: Race Sim Studio GT-MX Protech P92 F6 Renn for Assetto Corsa

More than twelve years after its original release, Assetto Corsa continues to thrive thanks to a passionate community and developers who keep pushing the boundaries of what the platform can deliver. One of the most respected names in high-end modding, Race Sim Studio, has now unveiled an entirely new category. The first entry into this ambitious project is the GT-MX Protech P92 F6 Renn.

GT-MX Protech P92 F6 Renn Overview

The Protech P92 F6 Renn marks the debut of the new GT-MX class. It is available either as a standalone purchase or as part of the larger GT-MX 4-Car Pack, which will gradually expand over the coming months. Visually and conceptually, the car draws heavy inspiration from the Porsche 911 GT3 rennsport, a machine already known for pushing beyond traditional GT3 limitations.

The core idea behind GT-MX is simple but exciting. Remove homologation restrictions, increase performance, refine aerodynamics, and enhance the overall presence of the car while staying grounded in believable motorsport engineering. The result is a platform that feels familiar to GT3, yet significantly more extreme in both appearance and driving characteristics.

Under the rear deck sits a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter flat-six engine producing up to 620 horsepower. That figure places it roughly 20 percent above contemporary GT3 race cars. On track, this positions the Protech between current GT machinery and entry-level prototype performance, creating a unique driving experience.

From the visual presentation in-game, the car stands out immediately. The widened stance, aggressive splitter, enlarged rear wing, and sculpted aero surfaces give it a far more purposeful look compared to regulated GT cars. The proportions feel planted and muscular, especially when viewed from low camera angles or trackside replays.

Modelling, Sound and Technology

As expected from Race Sim Studio, the level of detail is exceptionally high. The exterior model features sharp panel gaps, accurate carbon fiber layering, and realistic reflections when paired with Custom Shaders Patch. Interior modelling is equally detailed, with a race-focused cockpit layout, clear digital display, and functional steering wheel inputs.

The flat-six engine audio deserves special mention. It captures the mechanical sharpness and high-revving character typical of naturally aspirated Porsche-derived platforms. Positional sound design ensures that the tone changes convincingly between cockpit, bonnet cam, and trackside views. Under load, the engine note develops a raw, metallic edge that fits the car’s unrestricted identity perfectly.

Electronically, the Protech P92 F6 Renn includes advanced systems such as launch control, anti-stall, adjustable traction settings, and a multifunctional display. Ambient lighting inside the cockpit adapts dynamically, adding to the immersive feel during night sessions. According to RSS, all systems integrate seamlessly with the physics model rather than feeling artificially layered on top.

Physics tuning focuses on high-speed stability without sacrificing mechanical feedback. Compared to homologated GT3 machinery, the increased downforce and reduced drag create a noticeably more aggressive turn-in at higher speeds. Fast corners feel planted and confidence inspiring, while slower technical sections still demand careful throttle application due to the elevated power output.

GT-MX 4-Car Pack Structure

The GT-MX 4-Car Pack introduces a long-term development approach. Four vehicles will be released progressively between 2026 and 2027. Buyers receive each car separately as development milestones are completed. The overall pack price will increase once all four models are available.

All GT-MX vehicles are compatible with the PC version of Assetto Corsa and require Custom Shaders Patch version 0.2.7 or newer. Each entry promises original high-fidelity sound design, advanced physics development, and detailed lighting systems in line with the Protech’s debut standard.

Upcoming GT-MX Cars

GT-MX Macca 72X V8 Evo
This model resembles an unrestricted evolution of the McLaren 720S GT3. It is currently in development and expected to exceed 700 horsepower from a twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Early information suggests a significantly expanded aerodynamic package, revised cooling architecture, reduced weight, and refined traction electronics. If executed to the same level as the Protech, this could become one of the fastest GT-style platforms available in Assetto Corsa.

GT-MX Mercer Extreme V8 130
Inspired by an unrestricted interpretation of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, this naturally aspirated V8 machine is projected to deliver over 680 horsepower. The design emphasizes endurance stability combined with sharper front-end response. An enlarged rear wing and aggressive front-end aero concept define its visual identity. Expect a deep and characterful V8 soundtrack.

GT-MX Blackthorn V8 Apex
This entry takes cues from the Bentley Continental GT3 but pushes the concept further with a Pikes Peak-inspired extreme aerodynamic configuration. The widened body stance, revised cooling layout, and advanced suspension geometry are engineered to cope with substantial downforce increases. A high-revving V8 completes the package, targeting maximum circuit performance.

GT-MX Philosophy

The GT-MX programme represents a performance category built without traditional GT homologation constraints. Development has already spanned multiple years, reflecting a long-term commitment rather than a quick content drop. The ambition is clear. Create a parallel universe of GT racing where engineering creativity is prioritized over regulatory compliance.

In many ways, this mirrors what track-only manufacturer specials have done in real-world motorsport. The difference here is accessibility. Within Assetto Corsa, simracers can experience this unrestricted concept without budget limitations or technical barriers.

Final Thoughts

Even after more than a decade, Assetto Corsa remains one of the most versatile racing simulations available. Projects like GT-MX demonstrate why. Race Sim Studio continues to raise the bar in terms of quality, ambition, and technical execution.

While only the Protech P92 F6 Renn is currently available, the foundation it sets is promising. Players report, the car feels cohesive, visually striking, and mechanically engaging. If the remaining three models maintain this level of refinement, the GT-MX pack could become one of the standout mod releases of the coming years.

A full in-depth review will follow after extended testing across multiple circuits and conditions. For now, the GT-MX Protech P92 F6 Renn successfully answers the original question. What happens when GT3 cars are freed from restrictions? The result is faster, louder, sharper, and unmistakably more extreme.
