One of the questions I get asked all the time is simple: what is my favorite sim racing steering wheel? And honestly, it is a great question, because the answer is not as straightforward as just naming the most expensive or the most impressive thing I have used. I have owned and tested a ton of wheels at this point, and the truth is that different products stand out for completely different reasons.
Some wheels stand out because of pure cool factor. Some stand out because of authenticity. Some stand out because the build quality is ridiculous. And then there are the ones that may not look as special or dramatic as the halo products, but make so much sense for the money that they become incredibly easy to recommend. So if I am being completely honest, my favorite sim racing wheel depends a little on how you define as favorite. But if we are talking about the one I would actually point to as the best value overall, I do have a pretty clear answer.

Before I get to my actual pick, I think it is worth mentioning a few of the wheels that stand out most in my mind, because some of them genuinely are among the coolest sim racing products I have ever used. For pure wow factor alone, wheels like Sim-Lab’s Mercedes F1 and Porsche RSR rims are right up there. Those are the kind of products that feel special the moment you see them, and then even more special once you get them in your hands.
That is a huge part of what makes sim racing gear fun in the first place. Some hardware just has presence. The kind that changes the way your whole setup feels simply by being there. Those Sim-Lab wheels absolutely do that. They look incredible, feel serious, and carry the sort of motorsport-inspired identity that makes them memorable well beyond the actual time spent driving with them.
Then there is the Fanatec BMW M4 GT3 wheel, which is still one of the sickest steering wheels in sim racing. A huge part of that comes from the fact that it is not merely based on the real thing, it basically is the real thing. That kind of authenticity gives it a cool factor that is very hard to compete with. Even years later, it is still one of those products that immediately makes people stop and pay attention.
I also have to mention Ascher Racing’s McLaren wheels, because the quality on those is tremendous. Ascher is one of those brands that really understands how to make a wheel feel premium in the hands. The materials, the inputs, the fit and finish, the general refinement, it all comes together in a way that feels very convincing. When you use one, it is pretty easy to understand where the money went.
And if we are talking about sheer functionality, then the Rexing Mayaris 2 deserves a mention as well. That wheel is ridiculous in terms of what it offers. It is one of those products where you almost start laughing at how much stuff is packed onto it. From a pure feature standpoint, it is hard not to be impressed.
If we are talking about cool factor alone, I could honestly go in a few different directions. That is the problem with this question. Some wheels are favorites because they are special. It gives you enough features to feel modern, enough functionality to cover almost anything you would reasonably need, and enough quality that it does not feel like some obvious compromise. That combination is hard to ignore.
It also helps that the ergonomics are just good. That matters more than people sometimes realize. A wheel can have all the features in the world, but if it does not feel right in your hands or if the control layout is frustrating, then those specs stop mattering very quickly. The KS Pro avoids that. It feels comfortable, sensible, and easy to use on track, which is exactly what a wheel like this needs to be.
And then there is the compatibility side. The fact that it can be used more broadly rather than only making sense inside one narrow ecosystem is a big part of why it becomes such a strong recommendation. A lot of sim racers want flexibility now. They do not want to feel boxed in. They want hardware that can move with them if the rest of their setup changes. The KS Pro doing a good job there only makes it stronger as a value pick.
I think one of the reasons I keep coming back to the KS Pro is because it represents something a lot of sim racers quietly care about, even if they do not always say it out loud. Value matters. So, what is my favorite sim racing wheel? If we are talking about cool factor, I could easily name things like the Sim-Lab Mercedes F1, the Porsche RSR, or the Fanatec BMW M4 GT3. If we are talking about craftsmanship, Ascher Racing’s McLaren wheels are right there. And if we are talking about crazy functionality, the Rexing Mayaris 2 absolutely deserves its flowers.
But if I had to give one answer that feels the most honest overall, especially in terms of what I would call the best bang for buck, it would be the Moza KS Pro. It is not the flashiest wheel I have used, and it is not the most exotic, but for the money it simply gives you too much to ignore. Screen, backlit buttons, strong ergonomics, good on-track feel, lots of functionality, and broad compatibility for a fraction of what the high-end halo wheels cost. Yeah, that is very hard to argue against.
So while it may not be the ultimate dream wheel in terms of pure cool factor, it is probably my go-to answer when people ask what my favorite really is. Because sometimes the smartest wheel ends up being the one you appreciate the most.
