With the release of the new Horizon Decades update for Forza Horizon 6, several new vehicles have arrived, including the newly added 1989 Volkswagen Rallye Golf.
One glance at the car reveals a wider body and distinctive rectangular headlights, but the changes go much deeper than appearance. Underneath, VW equipped it with the Syncro AWD system, a 1.7-liter engine, and a G-Lader supercharger, creating one of the most unique hot hatches of its era.
This guide will help you unlock the car in the fastest way possible by efficiently completing seasonal events and championships.

With the arrival of the new season, Horizon places a heavy focus on the 1980s, bringing back some of the most iconic vehicles from the decade. Players will need retro machinery from this golden era, including legendary cars such as the BMW M3.
To begin collecting points quickly, we will start with the first championship route.
The first event we recommend tackling is “What’s the Hatch?”
Requirements:
For this championship, we decided to use the classic 1983 Volkswagen Golf GTI. The legendary hot hatch and its short wheelbase provide a strong foundation for a competitive race build.
For the tune setup, we reduced the vehicle weight from 866kg to only 741kg while adding sport suspension and a race differential. The upgraded engine now includes a supercharger, increasing power from 114 bhp to 143 bhp.
Tune Share Code (1983 VW Golf GTI):

After completing the championship, you will receive the 1988 BMW M3 along with 5 Festival Playlist points.

The newly earned BMW M3 can immediately be used for the next event, “Street Runner.”
Requirements:
Even though the BMW M3 is already highly competitive in stock form, there is still room for improvement before reaching the class limit.
The build focuses heavily on grip and handling. We reduced vehicle weight, increased power output, and equipped wider tires, a race differential, sport suspension, and aerodynamic upgrades.

Completing this championship rewards players with the 1982 DeLorean DMC-12 and 5 Festival Playlist points.

Now it is time to focus on the Forzathon Weekly Challenge: “Blast from the Past.”
The good news is that this challenge can be completed without upgrading the DeLorean at all.
Simply progress through each challenge stage normally. Once you reach the objective requiring a photo of your DeLorean, make sure to take the picture while drifting.
Doing this allows you to complete both the vehicle challenge and the Forzathon photo challenge “#TheJoyOfDrifting” simultaneously, saving additional time and adding 7 seasonal points in total.
At this stage you should have 17 seasonal points.

Now only three points remain to unlock the Rallye Golf.
Daily challenges provide a fast route toward those remaining points. Since only one daily challenge is available at the time of writing, you will need to complete:
The daily challenge is simple. With any 1980s car, park at the newly added car meet located next to the Hokubu Time Attack area.

For the seasonal PR stunt, you can choose any available event. However, we strongly recommend completing the Drag Meet as it is the quickest and easiest option.
Requirements:
We recommend selecting a high horsepower vehicle with minimal aerodynamic drag to maximize straight-line speed. We for example used the 1981 BMW M1 which can be unlocked as treasure car early in the game. There were no upgrades required for us to complete the Drag Meet in under 21 seconds.

Once all objectives are completed, you should now reach 20 seasonal points, allowing you to claim your reward:
1989 Volkswagen Rallye Golf

The Horizon Decades update introduces a strong dose of nostalgia, and the Rallye Golf is one of the most interesting additions from the new content drop. While it requires some progression through championships and challenges, the route above minimizes wasted time and lets players unlock the car as efficiently as possible.
For fans of classic hot hatches and rally-inspired machines, the Rallye Golf is definitely a car worth adding to the collection.
