Sim-Lab is bringing its upcoming Porsche 963 steering wheel to SimRacing Expo Frankfurt 2026, giving European attendees a much closer look at one of the company’s most ambitious steering wheels yet. The event takes place from October 16 through October 18 at Messe Frankfurt.
The wheel itself is no longer a complete mystery. Sim-Lab already gave it a surprisingly early public debut at Sim Gaming Expo in Chicago last month, but Frankfurt should give the company another opportunity to properly showcase the project as it gets closer to release.
The wheel is based directly on the steering wheel used inside the Porsche 963 LMDh prototype, the car Porsche developed for the current generation of top-level endurance racing. The real wheel places nearly everything the driver needs directly within reach, with a central display surrounded by buttons, rotary controls, shift lights, and multiple paddles on the rear.
That display is especially important in the real car, with Porsche integrating its primary driving information directly into the steering wheel. Drivers can monitor everything from ERS and traction control settings to brake bias, fuel information, tire data, and other vehicle parameters without relying on a traditional dashboard.
Sim-Lab is recreating that design as an extremely high-end sim racing wheel. The version shown so far uses an almost one-to-one shape with a full molded carbon fiber shell, the large integrated display, extensive controls, and even small visual details taken from the real 963 wheel.
Considering Sim-Lab already sells detailed replicas such as its Porsche 911 RSR and Mercedes-AMG Formula One wheels, the 963 feels like a pretty natural next step.

The interesting part is that Frankfurt will not actually be the first time the public has seen it. Sim-Lab quietly brought the Porsche 963 wheel to Sim Gaming Expo 2026 in Chicago, where I was able to see the hardware in person alongside the company’s new DDS direct drive wheel bases.
That appearance gave us our first proper look at the physical wheel after months of teasers. The carbon construction and close resemblance to the real motorsport hardware immediately made it clear that Sim-Lab is aiming considerably higher than a normal 963-inspired steering wheel.
Chicago was still very much a preview, though. Sim-Lab had not announced complete specifications, pricing, or a final release date at the time, leaving several pretty important details unanswered.

SimRacing Expo Frankfurt should provide a much larger stage for the 963. Sim-Lab is confirmed for the event and will be showing its latest premium steering wheels alongside new cockpit hardware, pedals, and its next-generation direct drive technology.
For the Porsche wheel specifically, the biggest things still left to learn are the final specifications, functionality, software integration, pricing, and availability. Sim-Lab has already shown us what the hardware looks like, so the next step is understanding exactly what buyers will receive and where it will sit within the company’s increasingly expensive flagship wheel lineup.
The timing also makes sense. Frankfurt is expected to host a large number of new hardware announcements across its three days, with the opening Friday specifically focused on new product premieres.
Even if the physical wheel itself is no longer new, this should be the more complete showcase people have been waiting for.
The Sim-Lab Porsche 963 steering wheel was already one of my favorite pieces of unreleased hardware at Sim Gaming Expo Chicago. Seeing a molded carbon replica this close to the real endurance racing wheel is impressive, although the final price will probably determine how realistic it is for most sim racers to actually own one.
Frankfurt should fill in many of the remaining blanks. We already know what the wheel looks like and have seen the hardware in person, so now I want to know exactly what it does, how closely it recreates the real 963 controls, and how much Sim-Lab is going to charge for it.
SimRacing Expo Frankfurt runs from October 16 through October 18, 2026.
