iRacing DevLog for S326 Update Reveals New Cars, Tracks, Dirt AI and Major Sim Upgrades

iRacing has lifted the curtain on its upcoming 2026 Season 3 update, revealing one of the most ambitious quarterly builds in recent memory. Scheduled to arrive in early June, the update introduces new cars, new tracks, major simulation improvements, long-requested quality-of-life features, and progress updates on several long-term projects currently in development.

The announcement follows a highly successful Nürburgring 24 Hours event on the platform, which saw participation increase by 47 percent compared to last year, with drivers collectively completing more than seven million miles around the Nürburgring.

New Cars Arriving in Season 3

BMW M2 Racing

One of the headline additions is the new BMW M2 Racing, replacing the previous-generation BMW M2 CS Racing in the official M2 series.

The G87-generation machine receives a completely updated visual model, including an all-new cockpit display system. Like its predecessor, the car will be included as free base content for all iRacing members.

The older BMW M2 CS Racing will remain available for AI racing and hosted sessions.

Euro NASCAR RC01

The long-awaited Euro NASCAR partnership is set to make its debut with the arrival of the Euro NASCAR RC01.

Powered by a naturally aspirated V8 engine, the car is designed specifically for road racing and promises a raw driving experience without the electronic aids found in many modern race cars. The vehicle is expected to suit both oval and road racing fans thanks to its unique characteristics.

However, iRacing noted that artwork development is still being finalized, meaning there remains a slight possibility that the car could be delayed.

New Formula Vees

Formula Vee racing is also receiving an expansion.

Rather than replacing the existing free Formula Vee, iRacing will introduce two additional Vee variants as an optional purchase. The original car remains unchanged, while the new additions aim to provide more variety within one of the service’s most popular entry-level categories.

BMW M Hybrid V8 Evo

Prototype fans will receive a free upgrade to the BMW M Hybrid V8.

The current GTP contender will be updated to Evo specification automatically for all existing owners, bringing the car in line with its current real-world counterpart.

Vehicle Updates and Physics Refreshes

Several existing cars are also receiving updates.

The Dallara IR18 gains new aerodynamic options, including ramp flaps and an Indianapolis 500 body wicker. Meanwhile, the Porsche 992.2 receives the classic endurance racing “X” headlight tape as a customizable visual option.

On the oval side, both the SK Modified and Tour Modified receive a complete physics overhaul, modernizing their behavior using iRacing’s latest simulation technology.

Laguna Seca Rebuilt From Scratch

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

One of the most significant track updates in Season 3 is a complete rebuild of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

While the circuit has received visual updates throughout iRacing’s history, this marks the first full rescan and physical surface update since the track originally launched on the service in 2008.

The rebuilt version will be released as a new track variation and automatically granted to eligible owners.

Qualcomm Circuit

Season 3 also introduces an entirely new venue.

Known officially as Qualcomm Circuit, the temporary course is located at Naval Base Coronado in San Diego and is being developed alongside NASCAR ahead of the real-world event debut.

Drivers can expect a unique mix of runway concrete, asphalt roads, and military infrastructure, creating a track with constantly changing grip levels and unusual scenery rarely seen in sim racing.

Additional Track Improvements

Several existing circuits are receiving updates:

  • Motorsport Arena Oschersleben gains physical 3D curbs and visual improvements.
  • Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours receives physical 3D curbs.
  • Oran Park Raceway undergoes a major visual overhaul.
  • Chicagoland Speedway receives a NASCAR-focused visual refresh.

Dirt AI Finally Arrives

One of the most anticipated features in recent years is finally becoming reality.

Season 3 introduces Dirt Oval AI opponents, allowing players to race against computer-controlled drivers on dynamic dirt surfaces for the first time.

The feature launches initially with the Dirt Legends Ford ’34 Coupe and Dirt Street Stock, with additional content planned in future updates.

AI Heat Racing will also debut alongside Dirt AI, expanding single-player race weekend options.

New Dynamic Track Maps

The new Sim UI continues to evolve with one of its biggest additions yet.

Season 3 introduces live dynamic track maps that display real-time positional information directly within the simulator.

Drivers can choose between several different layouts:

  • Traditional Track Map
  • Radial Map
  • Linear Map
  • Rotating Mini Map

Unlike third-party overlays, these maps are integrated directly into the sim engine and use newly developed networking technology designed to minimize performance impact.

Built-In Fuel Calculator

Another highly requested feature finally arrives in Season 3.

The new Fuel Calculator provides live strategy information, fuel projections, and customizable settings directly within the simulator.

The tool supports both solo and team racing and allows drivers to account for specific fuel targets when calculating strategy.

Control Profiles Simplify Hardware Changes

Players who frequently swap steering wheels or control setups will benefit from the new Control Profiles system.

Instead of manually managing configuration files, users will be able to save, load, and switch between hardware profiles directly through the UI.

Pit Road Enforcement Overhauled

iRacing has redesigned pit speed enforcement with the goal of making pit lane driving more consistent and predictable.

The new system uses a PID controller to automatically maintain the maximum legal pit speed while reducing the need for manual speed management.

Multi-Class Starts Could Debut Soon

Another major feature nearing completion is full multi-class race control.

The system introduces individual pace cars and independent green flags for each class, bringing multiclass starts much closer to real-world endurance racing procedures.

While not yet guaranteed for Season 3, iRacing hopes to test the feature during Week 13 if development progresses as planned.

Anycast Technology Improves Connectivity

Behind the scenes, iRacing has implemented Anycast routing technology across its race server network.

According to the developers, this should result in:

  • Lower latency
  • Reduced packet loss
  • Improved connection stability
  • Better resilience against network disruptions

Career Mode Development Continues

Looking beyond Season 3, iRacing shared new details regarding its upcoming Career Mode.

The single-player experience is being built separately from the multiplayer infrastructure and will allow players to progress through realistic motorsport career paths across multiple racing disciplines.

A dedicated deep dive is expected in a future development update.

Spark Graphics Engine Nears Another Milestone

Development of the new Spark graphics engine also continues at a rapid pace.

iRacing says the first phase of the engine’s architecture is approaching completion, with significant gains expected in both visual quality and performance.

iRacing plans to provide a dedicated Spark-focused update in the near future.

Looking Ahead

While the full Season 3 release notes are still to come, the preview already showcases a substantial update across nearly every area of the simulator.

From new content such as the BMW M2 Racing and Qualcomm Circuit to long-awaited features like Dirt AI, live track maps, fuel calculations, and control profiles, Season 3 appears set to be one of the most feature-rich quarterly releases iRacing has delivered in recent times.

And with Career Mode, Spark, physics modernization, and audio upgrades continuing behind the scenes, the future roadmap looks equally ambitious.
