Moza R5 Pro Bundle: Everything You Need to Know

The Moza R5 Pro is one of the most interesting entry-level direct drive bundles currently available. Priced at $399, it includes a 6 Nm direct drive wheel base, steering wheel, two-pedal set, and table clamp, giving you pretty much everything needed to start sim racing from one box.

More importantly, the R5 Pro represents a meaningful improvement over the previous R5. Moza has updated the motor, increased the available torque, improved the electronics, and brought some technology down from its much more expensive hardware. There are definitely compromises at this price, but as a complete starting package, there is a lot here.

Moza R5 Pro Bundle

What Comes With the Moza R5 Pro?

The bundle is built around the new R5 Pro wheel base, which produces a constant 6 Nm of torque. Alongside it, you get the Moza ES steering wheel, SR-P Lite 2 throttle and brake pedals, and a table clamp for anyone who does not have a dedicated simulator cockpit.

That makes it particularly appealing to someone upgrading from a controller or an older Logitech or Thrustmaster setup. You do not need to immediately start buying separate mounts, wheels, or pedals just to get driving, and everything is designed to work together through the wider Moza ecosystem.

The standard package is intended primarily for PC. The included ES wheel does not provide Xbox compatibility, although Moza offers the separate ESX steering wheel for users looking to bring compatible Moza hardware onto Xbox.

Moza R5 Pro Bundle

The New R5 Pro Wheel Base

The wheel base is easily the most important part of the bundle. Despite being remarkably small, the R5 Pro now produces a constant 6 Nm of direct drive torque, giving it slightly more headroom than the original R5 while still remaining compact enough for desk setups.

Inside, Moza has paired the updated motor with a 21-bit magnetic encoder and a 600 MHz processor, with the processor also used in the flagship Moza R25. That does not suddenly make the R5 Pro perform like a much more expensive wheel base, but it does help explain why the detail and responsiveness are surprisingly good for this price range.

The aluminum alloy housing feels sturdy and follows the cleaner design language used across Moza’s newer products. You get both front and bottom mounting options, while the included table clamp makes the base easy to use without an aluminum profile rig.

Connections on the rear allow compatible Moza pedals, shifters, handbrakes, and other accessories to connect into the ecosystem. The power button is also located back there, which remains one of those small design choices I wish Moza would finally move to the front.

What Does 6 Nm Actually Feel Like?

Six Newton meters is still firmly within entry-level direct drive territory. You are not getting the raw strength, headroom, or dynamic range available from a 12, 15, or 20 Nm wheel base, particularly when dealing with larger steering wheels or very high force feedback settings.

What matters more for a beginner is how clearly the base communicates what the car is doing, and the R5 Pro performs surprisingly well here. Road textures, changes in grip, suspension movement, kerbs, weight transfer, and other useful details all come through clearly enough to understand what is happening underneath the car.

The wheel base also feels smooth and responsive. I did occasionally notice a slightly elastic feeling as the wheel returned toward center after certain kerbs, almost like a rubber band pulling it back into position. Adjusting the damping helped, though I was never able to completely remove it.

Still, the overall force feedback is a noticeable improvement over the previous R5. Smaller surface details are easier to pick out, and the base generally feels more informative despite its limited torque output.

Moza R5 Pro Bundle

The Included ES Steering Wheel

The Moza ES is a compact 280 mm round steering wheel designed to cover plenty of different driving styles. It works well for road cars, GT racing, and general sim racing without locking you into one particular discipline.

The rim and faceplate use aluminum alloy, while the polyurethane grips have a slightly textured and perforated finish. It does not feel particularly premium, but it feels perfectly reasonable within a $399 complete bundle and remains rigid enough when the R5 Pro is running at full strength.

You also get 22 inputs, including a directional pad, along with two metallic paddle shifters and 10 RGB rev LEDs across the top. The buttons feel fairly basic, and the shifters use microswitches rather than more substantial magnetic mechanisms, but everything is easy to reach and functional.

The low weight of the ES is also useful here. A heavier wheel can dull some of the responsiveness from a low-torque wheel base, while the lightweight ES allows the R5 Pro to feel about as lively as possible.

The SR-P Lite 2 Pedals

The included SR-P Lite 2 pedals are probably the weakest part of the package. You get a throttle and brake as standard, with an optional clutch available separately. They are made mostly from metal, use Hall effect sensors, and offer a decent amount of positional adjustment.

The problem is resistance. Completely stock, both pedals feel quite soft and linear, particularly the brake. That makes it harder to consistently judge braking force compared with a proper load cell pedal or even a heavily resisted spring-based system.

Moza offers separate brake and throttle performance kits that add heavier elastomers and resistance. These are easy to install and improve the experience considerably, especially under braking, although the pedals still feel like entry-level hardware afterward.

For someone buying their first simulator, they do the job. As you become more competitive, however, the pedals are probably the first component in this bundle that you will want to upgrade.

Moza Pit House and Adjustability

The R5 Pro uses Moza Pit House for configuration. The software lets you adjust force feedback strength, damping, road sensitivity, wheel speed, steering angle, and a large number of other characteristics.

There is enough adjustment available to significantly change how the base feels, which is great once you know what you are doing. Beginners would benefit from more thoroughly refined presets for individual simulations, but the software itself is intuitive and generally easy to navigate.

The R5 Pro also handled extended sessions reasonably well in my testing. The housing became warm after several hours and considerably hotter under certain aggressive settings, but I did not experience any noticeable reduction in torque or force feedback quality.

Who Is the R5 Pro For?

The R5 Pro makes the most sense for someone buying their first serious sim racing setup. If you are coming from a controller, an older gear-driven wheel, or simply starting from scratch, the jump to direct drive should be immediately noticeable.

More experienced sim racers may eventually want stronger force feedback and better pedals, but that is also where the Moza ecosystem helps. Wheels, pedals, shifters, handbrakes, and other accessories can all be upgraded gradually instead of requiring you to replace the complete setup at once.

Final Thoughts

For $399, the Moza R5 Pro bundle gets a lot right. The wheel is simple but perfectly usable, the pedals are basic but upgradeable, and the R5 Pro base delivers surprisingly detailed and responsive direct drive force feedback from an extremely compact package.

There are obvious limitations at 6 Nm, and anyone getting more serious will probably want to replace the pedals first. Still, beginners get enough performance to properly learn, improve, and enjoy sim racing without immediately feeling like the entire setup needs replacing.

For someone looking to move beyond a controller or traditional entry-level wheel without spending a huge amount of money, the R5 Pro is a very convincing place to start.
