Fanatec Podium Pedals Update: Formula Set Launches First, GT Set Delayed to Q3

Fanatec has just shared an important update on the upcoming Podium Pedals, and while the headline is still positive overall, there is one clear change to the launch plan. The big news is that the pedals are still nearly here, with June 25 confirmed as launch day, but the first version arriving will not be the three-pedal GT set many people were expecting.

Instead, Fanatec is leading with the Formula configuration. That means the initial release will be a two-pedal setup, while the full three-pedal GT set has now been pushed back to Q3. According to Fanatec, the reason is simple. The clutch pedal is currently dealing with quality issues, and the company says it is not willing to ship something that does not meet its standards.

Fanatec Podium Pedals Update

The Formula set arrives first

The version launching first is the Podium Pedals Formula set, which comes as a two-pedal package. Fanatec says this version uses carbon fiber pedal faces and carbon heel cups, which are a big part of what helps justify the price. That also means the Formula set is not simply a stripped-down placeholder. It is still being positioned as a premium product in its own right.

To make that launch a little easier to swallow for buyers who may want a more conventional look and feel, Fanatec is also including two aluminum GT-style pedal plates free for a limited time with every set. So even though the Formula version launches first, buyers will still have some flexibility in how they want the pedals to feel from day one.

The three-pedal GT set is now coming in Q3

If a clutch pedal is essential to your setup, Fanatec is being pretty direct about the recommendation. Wait. The company says the full three-pedal GT set will now arrive in Q3, once the clutch issues are resolved properly. The stated price for that complete set remains $699, so the delay is not being used to introduce a higher cost or a revised bundle strategy.

That is probably the most important part of this update. The product is not being cut back, repriced, or reshaped in some bigger way. It is simply being delayed because Fanatec does not want to release the clutch in a state it is not happy with. In this case, that is probably the right move, even if it is obviously frustrating for buyers who were hoping to get the full set immediately.

The clutch will also be sold separately

Fanatec also confirmed that the clutch pedal will be available on its own once it is ready. That add-on is expected in Q3 as well and will cost $235. So for anyone who wants to get into Podium hardware earlier with the Formula bundle and then complete the set later, that option will be there.

That is a useful detail because it gives buyers two clear paths. Either wait for the complete three-pedal GT set, or start with the two-pedal Formula version and add the clutch later once it is available. Fanatec is very clearly trying to keep both options open, even if the launch sequence has changed.

There was another Fanatec announcement too

Alongside the Podium Pedals update, Fanatec also shared another bit of hardware news. On June 16, the company says it will release FullForce support for CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro owners as a free driver update. That is something people have been asking about for a long time, so it is definitely worth noting.

At launch, Fanatec says this update will work with iRacing and Assetto Corsa on PC. Console support is still being worked on, but the company says that part depends on game developers and their implementation timelines. So for now, the immediate win is on PC, while console users will need to wait a bit longer for more news.

Final thoughts

So overall, this is a mixed but still fairly sensible update from Fanatec. The Podium Pedals are almost here, with the two-pedal Formula set launching on June 25, but the full GT version has slipped to Q3 because of clutch quality issues. The good news is that Fanatec is keeping the full three-pedal set at $699, offering the clutch separately later for $235, and adding a limited-time bonus with free aluminum GT-style pedal plates in the Formula package.

At the same time, the FullForce update for CSL DD and GT DD Pro owners gives Fanatec another useful headline for June. So while this is not quite the exact Podium Pedals launch sequence people were expecting, there is still a lot happening over the next few weeks. Now the main question is simple. How good will those pedals actually be once people finally get their feet on them.
