After years of being exclusive to PC, BeamNG.drive is finally making its way to PlayStation 5. BeamNG has confirmed that the soft-body driving simulator will launch in Early Access on 19 October 2026, with the console version continuing to be developed alongside the PC release.
The PS5 version was first announced in May, but BeamNG had previously only confirmed a 2026 release window. The studio has now provided an exact date, while also outlining several features and limitations players can expect at launch.

Unlike a traditional console port that could fall behind the PC version, BeamNG says the PS5 release will follow the same ongoing development model. Updates will be released on PC and PS5 around the same time, starting with Version 0.40 in October.
The PS5 release will remain in Early Access, just like the PC version has for more than a decade. This means console players can expect the game to continue receiving regular updates and improvements as development progresses.
BeamNG originally brought the game to PC Early Access in 2015, and the studio has continued expanding its physics, vehicles, environments and gameplay systems through regular updates.
Version 0.40 will also introduce several changes designed around the new console release.
On the standard PS5, BeamNG will add support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3). The PS5 Pro will instead receive support for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). Both technologies are intended to improve image quality and performance through upscaling.
The update is also expected to include further visual improvements following the substantial rendering changes introduced with Version 0.39. That update introduced features including volumetric clouds, improved atmospheric effects, HDR support and a new rendering system.
There has also been speculation around DLSS support on PC, following previous development teasers, although this has not been confirmed as part of Version 0.40 and should therefore be treated as speculation for now.

One of the more notable additions is local split-screen multiplayer.
BeamNG has previewed the feature in the PS5 announcement trailer, allowing multiple players to share the same console. The PlayStation Store listing reportedly indicates support for up to four players, although BeamNG has not yet explained exactly how the split-screen mode will work across the game’s different modes and scenarios.
It is also important to distinguish this from online multiplayer. Official online multiplayer will not be available with Version 0.40, with BeamNG continuing to work on the feature for a future update.

Version 0.40 will introduce a new vehicle alongside the PS5 release.
BeamNG has not yet officially confirmed what that vehicle will be. However, the European-style truck that has appeared in previous development previews is a likely candidate. The truck has been shown several times during BeamNG’s development updates and social media posts and has become one of the more anticipated pieces of upcoming official content within the community.
Whether it will be the vehicle arriving with 0.40 remains unconfirmed, however, so players will have to wait for BeamNG to reveal the full details.
PS5 players will also have access to BeamNG’s recently revamped Photo Mode.
The system was significantly expanded with Version 0.39, adding more control over the camera, scene, lighting and visual effects. Players can adjust settings such as depth of field, autofocus, motion blur, time of day and other environmental effects, while presets can be saved and reused.
This gives the console version access to much of the photography functionality that has recently been added to the PC game.

One of the major differences between the PC and PS5 versions will be mod support.
Mods will not be available at launch on PS5. BeamNG says it wants to achieve feature parity between platforms where possible and has not completely ruled out bringing mods to consoles in the future. However, the developer has not provided a timeframe or confirmed what form console mod support could take.
The World Editor and other PC-based development tools will also not be available on PS5. This means console players will not have the same level of content creation and modification access that PC users currently have.
VR will also not be supported at launch.
BeamNG.drive will officially launch on PlayStation 5 on 19 October 2026 in Early Access. The release will arrive alongside the PC version’s Version 0.40 update, bringing new technology, local split-screen and a new vehicle while keeping the core BeamNG experience intact.
The PS5 version will use the same underlying engine as PC, retaining the game’s soft-body vehicle physics, open environments, vehicle customisation, scenarios, Career Mode and recently updated Photo Mode.
The price of the PS5 version has not yet been announced.
For console players who have been waiting to experience BeamNG.drive without needing a gaming PC, the wait now has a definite end date: 19 October 2026.
