Moza CRP2 Pedals Review: A Serious Step Forward for Load Cell Performance

The Moza Racing CRP2 pedals are the company’s newest high-end load cell pedal set and represent a long overdue refresh of the original CRP pedals that had been on the market for several years. With competitive pricing and a strong feature set on paper, I have spent several weeks dialing these pedals in, experimenting with different configurations, and putting them through extended driving sessions to see how they actually hold up.

In this review, I am going to walk you through what you need to know about the CRP2 pedals, what Moza did right, where there is still room for improvement, and whether or not I ultimately recommend them for serious sim racers.

Overview and Pricing

Fully redesigned for 2024, the CRP2 pedals consist of a brake, throttle, and an optional clutch, all mounted to a redesigned pedal deck that includes a carbon fiber heel plate. The base two-pedal set retails at $400, with the clutch adding an extra $100. An optional performance kit adds another $20 on top.

The configuration sent to me included the clutch and performance kit, bringing the total to $520. That is not a small amount of money by any means, but it also places these pedals directly into a competitive mid to high-end category where expectations are high.

Pedal Deck and Build Quality

The pedal deck is made entirely from metal and features clean cable routing that hides all wiring underneath. This contributes heavily to the CRP2’s minimalist look. The carbon fiber heel plate and subtle gold accents give it a refined appearance without feeling flashy.

Functionally, the pedal deck is very well designed. It features threaded inserts for easy mounting, allows side-to-side pedal adjustment, and remained completely rigid even under heavy braking. During testing, there was no noticeable flex, which helped maintain consistency and confidence while driving.

The only downside is that the pedal deck is mandatory. For sim racers whose cockpits already include a built-in pedal plate, this may feel unnecessary. It would be nice to see Moza offer the pedals without the deck as a cheaper option in the future.

Throttle Pedal Performance

The throttle pedal is by far the easiest part of this set to get right, and Moza has done exactly that. Like the other pedals, it offers a wide range of adjustments including height, angle, placement, and travel.

Resistance can be adjusted via a dial on the rear or by swapping out the spring entirely. While I experimented with different configurations, I ultimately settled on the stock setup, which felt well balanced and natural for my driving style.

In use, the throttle is smooth, quiet, and precise. Input is consistent, and there were no issues with sticking or uneven resistance. For most users, this pedal should be very easy to dial in to personal preference.

It is also worth noting that this pedal set can be used on Xbox when connected through a compatible Moza wheelbase, which adds flexibility for console users.

Clutch Pedal Feel

The clutch pedal offers similar levels of adjustment to the throttle and attempts to simulate a clutch bite point through a snap-action mechanism near the end of travel. This adds a layer of immersion beyond simple linear movement.

While the feature works, I found the bite point to be too aggressive on the medium and stiff settings. Lowering it to the softest configuration made it more subtle and usable, though still noticeable.

Build quality here is excellent. Like the other pedals, the clutch is made entirely from aluminum and finished in a clean black powder coat. The hexagonal pedal faces are comfortable, with beveled edges that feel good underfoot.

However, these pedal faces are extremely slippery, making shoes almost mandatory. For users who prefer driving in socks, this will likely be a deal breaker. Offering optional rubberized pedal faces would be a welcome addition.

Brake Pedal and Adjustability

The brake pedal is clearly the highlight of the CRP2 set and where Moza’s redesign really shines. Multiple damping blocks with different resistances are included as standard, allowing extensive tuning of brake feel.

The optional performance kit adds even more springs and blocks, expanding the range of possible configurations. Even without the performance kit, there is already a large amount of adjustment available.

The brake uses a 200kg load cell sensor, which allows for extremely stiff setups if desired. More importantly, it can also be tuned down to a medium-soft resistance that feels approachable and comfortable. This flexibility is a major strength.

Moza includes configuration guides that help explain how different combinations affect brake feel. While it does take time to experiment, the end result is a brake pedal that can be tailored very precisely.

On-Track Performance

Once dialed in, the CRP2 pedals performed extremely well on track. The brake pedal was accurate and predictable, with a strong sense of control thanks to the combination of load cell and angle sensor input.

Pedal calibration and input blending can be adjusted in Moza Pit House software, where you can also fine-tune curves and sensitivity. The software interface is clear and made it easy to experiment with different setups.

All three pedals operated smoothly and quietly, with no mechanical noise or inconsistency during long sessions.

Software Integration

Moza Pit House plays an important role in getting the most out of the CRP2 pedals. From calibration to curve adjustments, everything is handled in one place.

The ability to blend load cell and angle sensor input on the brake is particularly useful and allows drivers to fine-tune braking behavior to suit different cars and driving styles.

Software stability during testing was solid, and changes applied reliably without requiring restarts.

Final Thoughts

The Moza Racing CRP2 pedals are a clear and noticeable improvement over the original CRP set. They deliver strong build quality, excellent adjustability, and a braking system that can compete in a crowded mid to high-end market.

There are still areas where Moza could improve, particularly with grip on the pedal faces and offering more modular purchasing options. Even so, the overall package is well thought out and performs at a high level once properly configured.
