Race Sim Studio has officially revealed the latest addition to its expanding historic catalogue with the introduction of the Formula RSS 1990 V10 for Assetto Corsa. The release continues the studio’s push into classic Formula eras, focusing on one of the most demanding and technically raw periods in motorsport history.
The new car is designed to reflect the defining characteristics of early 1990s Formula racing. A naturally aspirated V10 engine producing close to 700 horsepower results in a car that requires full attention on every lap, with no room for error and no modern systems to fall back on.

The early 90s stand out as a transitional phase in Formula racing. Teams were pushing the limits of engineering while driver aids had not yet become widespread. Cars were lighter, more unpredictable, and heavily reliant on driver skill. Managing throttle input, braking balance, and steering precision was essential to extracting performance.
Race Sim Studio has approached this project with a clear focus on authenticity. The development process involved extensive research using archived documentation, technical references, and historical data. Every aspect of the car, from its aerodynamic behavior to its mechanical balance, has been built to reflect the limitations and characteristics of the time.
Race Sim Studio says drivers can expect a car that reacts sharply to inputs, demands consistency, and rewards smooth driving over aggression.
At the core of the release is the V10 engine, a defining feature of the era. High-revving and aggressive, it delivers strong top-end performance while maintaining a narrow operating window that requires careful management. The sound profile reflects this as well, with a sharp and mechanical tone that reinforces the raw nature of the car.
The chassis has been developed with a focus on agility and responsiveness. Weight distribution and suspension behavior play a key role in how the car performs across different circuits. Combined with classic aerodynamics, the overall package feels light, reactive, and highly sensitive to setup changes.
The car requires Custom Shaders Patch version 0.2.7 or newer to function as intended, ensuring compatibility with modern visual and physics features within Assetto Corsa.

The V10 is released as part of the broader Formula RSS 1990 Pack. Alongside the new car, the previously released V12 variant has received updates to bring it in line with current development standards.
Users have the option to purchase the full pack or individual cars.
Both cars included in the 1990 lineup benefit from a range of improvements that reflect Race Sim Studio’s current production quality. These updates focus on delivering a complete and immersive experience across visuals, sound, and driving dynamics.
The goal is consistency across the entire package, allowing drivers to switch between the V10 and V12 while maintaining a coherent experience that reflects the same era and philosophy.

Whilst not yet tested by us; according to RSS, on track the Formula RSS 1990 V10 should deliver a demanding but controlled experience. Without traction control or advanced electronics, the focus shifts entirely to driver input. Throttle modulation becomes critical when exiting corners, while braking stability depends on careful weight transfer management. Just like their real world counterparts, these cars leave absolutely no room for error.
This type of driving experience aligns closely with the expectations of sim racers looking for a more traditional and skill-based challenge. It is not forgiving, but it is predictable when approached with the right technique.

The Formula RSS 1990 V10 is available for the PC version of Assetto Corsa as a digital download. Each purchase includes the necessary files and documentation to help users get started and understand the characteristics of the car.
With this release, Race Sim Studio continues to expand its historic offerings, adding another era that stands out for its technical demands and driver-focused nature. The Formula RSS 1990 V10 brings that experience into a ‘modern’ simulation environment while staying grounded in the realities of its time.
